Tips For The Trip
Being prepared is the first step
of success.Some tips below might help you to start. You need to
bring some tools to crab.
If the weather allows,
cooking at the beach is a lot fun cecause eating fresh crabs
is different than eating those from the grocery!
This is not a scientific page, but the information is based on
our experiences.
What to Bring for
Crabbing
- Baits. The best bait is fish. You can get 5 lb for only 1 dollar at the fishing
shop near the park entrance.
- A net used for bait holding, those nets used for onion package is fine
- Buckets for crab storage.
- First aid kits.
- Long Nylon rope for hooking the bait.
- A fishing loop net (see the picture).
Most people know very well how to prepare for camping, but here we
list some materials for your convenience.
- A tent and a sleeping bag, a pillow etc. Beware that it is
very windy at night.
- Cooking equipment.
- Camara, cell phone.
- Flash light (important), woods for camp fire.
- Sun screen.
- Long-sleeve shirts and pants.
To have a good time, try eating the crabs
right after you catch them
- Put some water in a pot, boil the water.
- Put crabs on a rack above boiling water, steam the crabs
without letting them touch the water.
- Steam the crabs for 20 minutes or until the shell color turn
into red.
- Mix Chinese red vinegar and chopped ginger to make a sauce for crab dipping.

Typically, it is foggy in the morning and at night, sunny in the daytime, windy at late afternoon,
You should check the
weather in advance.
Camping Site Reservation
There are many sites for RVs, but Two sites are for tent camp.
Since a lot of people go camping there, it is recommended to
reserve camping site
in advance, at least one month early.

The crabbing site is located at Doran Park Road off highway 101.
